It's no secret that most people who lose weight will regain it. Many start regaining the weight in the very first year!
As a person who used to struggle with her weight for over 20 years, I realize there’s more to weight loss than just “diet and exercise”.
Most weight loss programs and products spend too much time treating your weight like it’s the issue when it’s really just the symptom of the issue.
Many people struggle with their weight for various reasons including:
- emotional eating (eating out of loneliness, boredom, stress, anxiety, depression, etc).
- elevated stress
- lack of nutrition info and how to properly fuel your body
- mindless snacking
- skipping meals
- struggle with nourishing body with demanding schedule
- improper planning
- medical/hormonal imbalances
- and other reasons
Being told to just “eat less and move more” does nothing to address the root cause.
So though it may work initially, it often fails because people have no idea how to manage their weight once they’ve lost it.
With a more holistic approach, it goes beyond calories and macronutrients.
It takes into consideration the WHOLE person — culture, lifestyle, preferences and challenges to create a strategy that gets to the root of their weight challenges.
For example, if a person struggles with emotional eating, being told to follow keto won’t stop this person from reaching for food when they’re feeling overwhelmed or stressed.
So instead, I like to help my clients come up with effective strategies with the goal of not just losing weight but keeping it off.
This requires a personal relationship built on education and trust.
